Full Description

Oriental Beauty is one of the most internationally famous teas and this unique name was given by the British Queen when she had it in 1960. Its original name is actually Bai Hao oolong and it has another beautiful nickname, Champaign Oolong. Unlike most other oolongs that are made from more ripe big leaves, the Bai Hao oolong is made from one bud with two tender young leaves, hence it’s called “Bai Hao” oolong (meaning white buds). The raw leaves need to be bitten by green leaf hoppers every year in June in order to produce the stone fruit and honey like sweetness that’s unique to the Oriental Beauty. Interestingly enough, it’s also the most fermented oolong tea for up to 85% compare to the usual 40%-50%. The finished tea leaf has five different colors, and they are yellow, white, green, red and brown. Its tea liquor also has a radiant ember color.

Brewing Instruction Gaiwan & Teapot

Gaiwan: 3-5 secs

ceramic pot: 3 mins

Add 5gram/1 tbsp
90 C / 195 F

We strongly encourage experimenting with different quantities, steeping times and tea wares to find your most desired result. However, avoid over heated water, as it will over-extract the bitter compounds and astringency of the tea, whereas water that’s too cool might not fully extract the aroma and flavor.
