Full Description

Jin Mu Dan, or Gold Peony, elegant both in the name and in the taste. This is a hybrid Rock Tea interbred by two other famous Oolong tea varietals, Tie Guan Yin and Huang Jin Gui. It’s a very good contrast to the heavy roasted Wu Yi Rock Teas that we are more familiar with, Jin Mu Dan is better known for its gardenia flower like bouquet aroma, yet still with a strong Cha Qi like a proper Rock Tea, and it has a beautiful golden liquor color. This tea also makes an interesting comparison to Dan Cong Gardenia Aroma since you do recognize some similar traits, yet still very different.

Wu Yi Shan is located in northern Fu Jian province in China and it’s the cradle for the worldwide prestigious Wu Yi Rock Teas. The traditionally processed Wu Yi rock teas tend to be more roasted, and they are famous for their roasting, peanut/nutty, spiced and sometimes floral or mineral taste. Rock tea enthusiasts also talk often about or seek “Yan Yun” 岩韵 in a tea, which means the “Rhythm of Rock”, and it’s an abstract sensation of tea drinkers sensing the energy from the rock from a Wu Yi rock tea.
