Your next Gaiwan, isn’t just a gaiwan. It has a vivid image of a companionable cat who is making tea! It’s a handmade and hand painted magical teaware by Master Lu from Jing De Zhen. The peacock eyes accentuates the beautiful shape and gives it a rustic touch, and both the nob on the lid and the bottom have a crystalized ice crack effect. If you’re looking for the cutest Gaiwan ever with a dappled glaze, stop right here. Even though cats do not have a significant role in Chinese culture and symbolism, who doesn't love these adorable yet mystical friends from the animal kingdom? Hence, in cooperation with Mr. Lu in Jing De Zhen we’ve crafted this original Gaiwan depicting a cat "cooking the tea", also known as tea decoction.
This classic 130ml gaiwan benefits not only from the heat retention and luminous beauty of the clay but also the comfortable grip between the lid and the bowl due to the matte surface and small comfortable size. Its function is noticeably superior to most glazed gaiwans, producing a smooth, clean pour. While this gaiwan is suitable for any tea and does not need to be dedicated, it has become our clay of choice for many low-oxidation Phoenix Dan Cong Oolong tea, and Taiwanese oolongs. The soft texture and excellent insulation of the clay make this gaiwan a joy to hold and to use.
