Origin: Jing De Zhen, China
Technique: Hand made and hand painted
Firing: 1300C, 15 hours
This Gaiwan is designed and hand made by young artist Ma in Jing De Zhen, from throwing to hand painting with glaze color to final firing. It is pottery made and has a moon face like texture. It’s fired at above 1300C for 15 hours and you can find his signature at the bottom of the Gaiwan. The crazing effect will become more obvious as you continue brewing tea inside. It also comes with matching Ginko cups!
We visited his studio in March, 2021 and witnessed his hand painting process. We also did a live on Instagram to showcase his work while he was painting the Ginko leaves.
