We have introduced a couple of aged Dan Congs this year, how about one more for this winter? One of the teas that we always look forward to in every winter is the Dan Cong Duck Shit Snowflake. It doesn't only have an elegant name, but also a delicate floral fragrance and taste that makes you think of a flower that blooms in the snow.
Besides the Snowflake from this year, we also tried a Snowflake from 2020 and 2018. We decided to make a sample box of these three winter Dan Congs from three different years for you to taste and compare. While the 2018 Snowflake is aged by ourselves (however, with very limited amount), the 2020 tea and the 2021 tea are from the same producer. When we tasted these teas, we were surprised by how fruity and dark the 2018 liqueur has become, while not surprised that the 2020 one still has some floral features like a fresh Snowflake, but also starts to show some mild fruity notes like the 2018 tea.
One of the fun tea experiences that we always love and finally were able to do more often this year is to compare, and there are many elements we can consider when carrying out a comparison, such as the age of the tea tree, the age of the tea, the elevation, the season, or we raise questions such as how the same name used for two different varietals, however, same tea type (Shui Xian Yan Cha vs. Dan Cong Yan Cha) can be similar or different? There's no single way to compare different teas but it is always a fantastic way to understand more teas. We hope to bring more of this kind of tea experience to you!
