Full Description
This is an unsmoked style Lapsang Souchong tea that has a lovely peach note that stands out both in fragrance and in its liquor. It comes straight from the heart of the core production area Tong Mu Village in Wu Yi Mountain range. You can learn more about where this tea comes from and Bei Bei's farm by watching the video of our sourcing trip!
Tong Mu Village has 12 production teams for Lapsang Souchong, and each team is composed of a few families that live in the Tong Mu village area. Ma Su is one of them and is located at elevation about 1200 meters. Bei Bei Zhang comes from a five generational family that owns a tea plantation and is still producing Lapsang Souchong, both traditional smoked style and unsmoked style in Ma Su. After our visit to Bei Bei's family tea plantation in Ma Su this year and witnessing the entire production process, we are now able to bring this crown jewel of Chinese black tea to you!
Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong or Lapsang Souchong is more than just the world's first black tea. Besides a rich history behind it, this tea itself is a cultural heritage of China, since the traditional smoked style Lapsang tea has to be 100% handmade by burning the Horsetail pine wood in a special architecture called Qing Lou (another Chinese cultural heritage).
