Among the many white teas we have sourced over the years, this is one of the rare finds.
Produced in Fuding, the birthplace of Chinese white tea, this exceptional aged Silver Needle is crafted from a little-known local heirloom cultivar called Zao Feng Chun. Unlike most modern white teas, which are made from the widely cultivated Da Bai (Big White) and Da Hao (Big Hair) tea varieties, Zao Feng Chun remains a less known and largely overlooked cultivar found only in small pockets of the region thanks to its lower commercial demand.
This tea is harvested exclusively from unopened spring buds, qualifying it as a genuine Silver Needle (Bai Hao Yin Zhen) grade white tea. After careful traditional processing and natural aging, it has matured for six years, developing remarkable depth while retaining the elegance and sweetness that define great white tea.
The liquor is smooth, layered, and exceptionally enduring. It can be infused repeatedly without developing bitterness or astringency, revealing evolving notes with each steep. Its distinctive cultivar character, rarity, and striking appearance inspired us to nickname it the "Maserati Silver Needle"—a white tea prized not only for its beauty, but for its uncommon pedigree and refined performance.
